Trip to China - Business or Pleasure?
Failure to apply for the right category, China
Tourist visa or China Business
Visa, may result in a delay or cancellation of a trip. Understanding the difference between a Chinese tourist visa and a Chinese business visa can save applicants time and trouble.
Chinese Business Visa
The People's Republic of China defines
"business" as
a visit to conduct "an investigation,
a lecture, to
do business, scientific-technological
and culture exchanges,
short-term advanced
studies or internship
for a period of
no more than six
months." A Chinese
business visa is also known
as an "F" class
visa.
Chinese Tourist Visa
The People's Republic of China defines
a "pleasure" trip
(tourist) as coming
to China "for
sightseeing or
visiting family
members or friends
or for other personal
affairs." U.S.
Citizens in this
category must
obtain a Chinese
Tourist Visa,
also classified
as an "L" visa. |
